Breaking Down Barriers to the Implementation of the GeneXpert Technique: Perception of Healthcare Providers

Background:Tuberculosis control strategies globally aim to early detect and manage the disease. The GeneXpert assay has shown improved specificity sensitivity over sputum smear microscopy. shows comparable results culture produces in less than 2 hours making it a better diagnostic tool. We sought identify barriers challenges associated with intervention Ghana.   Methods: This cross-sectional study was done between January February 2022 involved an online questionnaire (Google sheet, 2006) shared through WhatsApp healthcare workers engaged tuberculosis work data collected checked for completeness, coded, entered into SPSS version 26 (IBM 2019) analysis. Other analyses were using GraphPad Prism 8 (Microsoft, 2019). Associations demographic indicators, work-related characteristics, choice of responses explored logistic regression models generalized linear models. All two-tailed p-values 0.05 being considered statistically significant Results: 294 health professionals participated study, majority (51.4%) whom aged 26-35 years mostly males (240/294). respondents had attained their first degree (55.4%) rest having either certificates, diplomas, masters, or fellowships. Most them public (> 2/3), while under Christian Health Association Ghana (CHAG), private quasi-government facilities. participants strongly agreed that module failure, delay maintenance support, inadequate supply cartridges, lack appropriate centrifuges non-pulmonary sample processing, poorly maintained air conditioners, faulty UPS optimal operation machines. Conclusion: is widely used positively impacted TB case detection management. Barriers such as UPS, cartridge supply, equipment refrigerated centrifuge are affecting effective implementation intervention. There therefore urgent need tackle these forestall failure
